The Akwasidae Festival is a festival celebrated by the Asantes after every 6 weeks each year. The festival honors the ancestors of the Asante Kingdom. The entire festival revolves around the ancestral stool which is the “Golden Stool” and it is an occasion for the Asantes to pledge their loyalty to the Asantehene. The grand ceremony is always on a Sunday, though it is a week long of activities.
